City Council Neighbourhood Survey

As part of its Life in Christchurch series of surveys, the City Council is now focusing on communities and neighbourhoods.

This survey is covering topics such as neighbourhood connections, a sense of community and contact with neighbours, volunteering and neighbourhood and community facilities and services.

Community Development Advisor Marie Byrne says: "We want as many Christchurch residents as possible to complete the survey, so we encourage you to both fill in the survey, and pass the link on to your whanau/family and friends. The more Riccarton people that fill in the survey, the more comprehensive will be the information for the area."

The survey will be open for feedback until the 3rd November. Marie will be at the Common Ground Cafe, 80 Rattray Street, Riccarton, on Friday 20 November for anyone who would like to fill it online there.

The survey can also be filled out online at www.ccc.govt.nz/chchlife

Riccarton Street Party

When Riccarton Community Church wanted to give people in the area something to look forward, it decided to put on a street party.

That was nine years ago, and the party has been a roaring success ever since. Thousands turn out each year to enjoy the free entertainment and food, and the opportunity to get to know their neighbours a bit better.

This year's party will be on Sunday, 5th November, running from 11am to 1pm.

There'll be a live stage show, free food, face painting, prizes, pony rides, petting zoo, Devonshire teas, free clothing and toys, market stalls and more.

Just roll up to Elizabeth Street, near Division Street, to enjoy the day's fun.
