Join in to help tidy the neighbourhood

The Warehouse and Neighbourly are joining forces to encourage people to tidy up their neighbourhoods.

A nationwide initiative, The Great Community Clean Up (GCCU), is encouraging Kiwis to get out into their communities to give them a clean-up between April 16 and 22.

Elesha Edmonds, Neighbourly's Community Engagement Manager, says the project's aim is to unite neighbours and inspire them to take ownership of their neighbourhoods through cleaning up areas that need a little extra attention. (And there are prizes to give a bit more incentive to take part!)

Last year’s campaign attracted a record turnout where neighbours, community organisations and even local MPs united to clean up areas needing a little extra attention. Locations included beaches, parks, streams, carparks and roadsides.

"Even the smallest gestures made a big difference," Elesha says.

Every Neighbourly member who registers an event before 11 April will receive a Clean Up pack to help them on the day. This includes gloves, rubbish bags, hand sanitizer, welcome sheets and a $10 The Warehouse Gift Card.

"If your organisation works with under 13s, we have a Little Kiwi Clean Up Star Award - recognising mini neighbours who are 13 years and under that take part in this year’s event." And any pics shared on Instagram using the hashtag #CleanUpNZ go in a draw to win one of five $50 Gift Cards.
